MITER SAW VS. TABLE SAW: WHICH ONE DO YOU USE?

Learn the difference between a miter saw vs table saw, and decide which tool is right for you and your next woodworking project!

The miter saw makes both straight and angled cuts.

MITER SAW

The single and double-beveled options determine if you can tilt one direction or two for miter cuts.

A sliding or non-sliding saw determines the width of the board you can cut. Miter saws typically cut narrow boards.

Use a miter saw when making angled cuts or smaller boards. It's very versatile.

A table saw is a circular blade mounted in a flat table.

TABLE SAW

The wood is pushed through the blade to make long cuts, and cut wider boards.

Angled cuts are possible, but they require additional tools with a table saw.

You should use a table saw when cutting larger boards, make a clean edge, or make cross cuts.

Try the miter saw first as a beginner, it's cheaper and more beginner friendly.
