xTool P2 CO2 LASER CUTTER REVIEW

Want more speed and power from a laser cutter? Check out my xTool P2 CO2 laser review and how it compares with their M1 diode laser machine.

Choosing the right laser cutter can be difficult, but what is the choice between diode and CO2.

The P2 is much larger than the M1, but setup was simple even with this heavy machine.

Setup

Add a mixture of distilled water and antifreeze to the machine to keep it cool.

Initial Setup

Align the mirror which is used to direct the beam. Painters tape is used to mark the beams position.

Initial Setup

Attach the exhaust hose and vent outside to avoid accumulation of smoke and fumes.

Venting

Connect the laser cutter using a USB cable. An adapter maybe necessary to reach the computer.

Connecting

The P2 is about 9 inches wider than the M1 with a tray to catch any cutting debris.

Working Area

The P2's laser is more powerful than the M1 making the cut speed significantly faster.

Speed

The M1 diode laser cannot cut acrylic but the P2 CO2 laser can cut clear, white, and blue acrylic with precision.

Cutting Acrylic

The noise is greatly increased with the P2 compared to the M1, but the unpleasant smell is strongly diminished.
