Looking to give your bedroom a new look? These navy blue and gray bedroom ideas might be just what you're looking for!
Our master bedroom is in need of a serious update! We've had the same color scheme for over a decade, and I'm itching to change it up for something crisp and bright. A navy blue and gray bedroom will allow me to keep the dark brown furniture we already have, while giving it a whole new look!

The entire main floor of our house is painted a neutral light gray (Big Chill by Sherwin-Williams), except for the bedroom. I'd love to make everything more cohesive, which means the tan walls will have to go! A navy blue color scheme will complement both the dark wood furniture and the light gray walls.
This is our bedroom when we first moved into the house. Seeing it in a photo really makes it look sad and dated!
Navy Blue and Gray Headboard Ideas
I built an upholstered headboard with pewter gray leather, and covered the wall behind it with amazing textured wallpaper to make it a focal point. I'm thinking of painting the wallpaper to keep the texture when I update the room to navy blue and gray.
If you don't want to make your own headboard, there are plenty of store bought options out there! A navy blue accent wall paired with a light gray tufted headboard like this one would look amazing together!
Or switch it up and paint the walls gray and add a navy blue upholstered headboard instead.
Navy Blue and Gray Bedding Ideas
I love the idea of reversible bedding, with a little bit of pattern peeking out when the comforter is folded back. Maybe it will inspire me to make the bed more often!
If you'd rather stick with solid colors with a bit of texture, this bedding has a dark blue pinch pleats on one side and a solid gray underside. Doesn't it look so cozy?
Navy Blue and Gray Curtain Ideas
When shopping for curtains, keep a few important factors in mind:
- Light blocking curtains are essential for sleeping in on weekends.
- Full length curtains make the ceiling feel taller.
- Consider a double curtain rod with a sheer inner layer and thicker outer layer so you can have privacy even with the drapes open.
Even if you decide to keep the rest of the room neutral, curtains are a great way to change up the feel of a space without a huge budget commitment. For example, these gray and blue stripes give the room a more nautical look.
Or add a pattern to your bedroom without it feeling too overwhelming just by hanging curtains like these!
Navy Blue and Gray Area Rugs
If you don't have wall to wall carpeting in the bedroom, an area rug will soften the space and make it feel more cozy. Plus, there's nothing worse than putting your feet on cold hardwood floors first thing in the morning!
An area rug like this one has the added benefit of disguising dirt within the abstract pattern! It's also easier to pair with a bolder pattern in the curtains without looking too overwhelming.
For the ultimate treat for your toes, try this super fuzzy area rug! It comes in several different gray and white combinations, so you can choose the one that matches the shades in the rest of the room.
Navy Blue and Gray Accessories
The Crate and Barrel nightstands we bought ages ago will be staying, but the IKEA lamps on top of them need some love. Rather than spending money on new ones, check out how a little spray paint and ribbon instantly transformed these bedside lamps!
Want a simulated preview of our future master bedroom? Here's a quick mock up I made that incorporates all the elements I love. What do you think? Is there anything you would change? I'd love to hear from you in the comments!

That wallpaper! It's awesome! Put it up, girl.
As for your inspiration board, I would steal every detail of it - if it didn't mean re-painting our bedroom (which ain't happening). It's classy, it has enough masculinity and it is intense enough to look interesting.

I know, right? I still love the wallpaper, but not loving the color anymore. I'm going to test painting a scrap of wallpaper gray to see if it retains its three dimensional quality. If not, I'll probably put it up anyway just to give the bedroom a little bit of personality!

That's going to look great Vineta,! Are you going to make your own upholstered headboard? You are the Handyman's Daughter and I'm sure the Handyman will help you :D
I love blue and gray and have a blue rug in our bedroom with gray walls (Repost Gray by SW). I'm thinking of IKEA for their navy blue curtains because they are long and I also need some light blocking to allow us to sleep in :)

I am definitely thinking of making my own headboard, especially if we end up not getting a new bed anytime soon. I like the idea of mounting the headboard on the wall rather than attempting to attach it to our cheap bedframe. The last thing I need is our headboard falling on our heads in the middle of the night!
I'll have to check out IKEA's curtains! I didn't even think of that!
